Yet from the Wreckage Flowers Bloomed is a large-scale self-portrait tapestry that examines the intersection of female embodiment, trauma and reclamation. The work interrogates the ways violence is carried within and upon the body, while also exploring the possibility of healing, agency and visibility after rupture.

Woven on one of the low warp looms at West Dean Tapestry Studio, the tapestry has taken nearly six months of slow, meticulous work. From the initial drawing to dressing the loom, dyeing the wool and hundreds of hours of weaving, the tapestry is finally complete.

It will be exhibited at the Summer Show at West Dean College from 4th-10th July, 10am-5pm before moving to Dilke House in London where the exhibition runs from 16th-19th July, 12-6pm.
