The YES Festival was the first all female arts festival in Ireland and the culmination of the Ulysses European Odyssey, an epic 2 year project across 18 cities in 16 countries, producing artistic responses in public spaces to social and cultural themes identified in the 18 episodes of James Joyce’s Ulysses, co-funded by the European Union and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland for Arts Over Borders.

The YES Festival explored the theme of ‘The Future: A Female Vision’. It invited audiences to think about the role of women, not only in Joyce’s life and work, but more widely the role of women in art, business and politics, and their role in society as thinkers and creative and civic leaders.

The international YES Festival took place in Derry and northeast Donegal from 13-16 June 2024. The programme included theatre, dance, visual arts, installations, film, writing, photography, textiles, circus, music, rap and song.
